John H. Burgess - His remarkable career spans the decades. From his first award on graduation from McGill University in 1959 - the Wood Gold Medal; his Nuffield Travelling Fellowship at the University of Birmingham, England; the R.S. McLaughlin Travelling Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco; to the Director of Cardiology at The Montreal General Hospital. He was awarded the Order of Canada for his services to the Inuit and his teaching and research at McGill University. Dr. Burgess was the past President (1990-1992) of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is currently Emeritus Cardiologist of the McGill University Health Centre; Professor Emeritus of Medicine, McGill University.
